Forever young

With my earbuds in and sweat dripping from my brow it was yet another late night in the shop.  Christmas time was around the corner and I had to finish up orders.  It had to be almost five years ago and I had a little girl who was barely three waiting for me at home.  From the day I met her we've had a special bond that has grown even stronger to this day.  Just weeks before I decided to build her a bookcase, but with orders rolling in and it just kept collecting dust in the corner of my shop.

Song after song shuffled through my phone while the beats bounced in my head as I started shutting down the shop.  It had to be close to midnight at this point.  Then suddenly it played.  Word for word, this song hit me like a train.  It was if I had written it myself for my own little girl. Forever young, by Bob Dylan.  I can't tell you how many times I have heard that song before, but this time was different.  I hopped out of truck as quickly as I had got in, went back to the front door I had just locked up and stared at that dust covered bookcase until I convinced myself to just stay a little longer and finish it up.

Within the next week of working on it here and there I came up with this.

Its not mahogany or black walnut,  just plywood, scrap from other projects and paint.  My sweat, my blood, and my tears.  Something made just for you, by me, Daddy.

Since I made the first one and posted it online I have made probably 10 more.  This is the most recent version requested.

I hope you enjoy it as much as she does.  If you have any requests please feel free to leave us a message below.  We love to hear what you have to say.
